Sweet Bean Recipes (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is operated by Sweet Bean, LLC. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through sweetbeanrecipes.com (the “Service”), how we use and share it, and the choices you have. By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

Sweet Bean Recipes is a companion site to sbconfectionery.com, but the two run on separate platforms and this policy covers sweetbeanrecipes.com only. See sbconfectionery.com’s own privacy policy for information about that store.

Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password. If you sign in with Google instead, Google shares your name, email address, and profile photo with us.

Content you create. Recipes, ingredient notes, ratings and reviews, photos you upload, recipe book and cookbook contents, and any files you import (Word documents, PDFs, or Google Docs) to create a recipe.

Dietary and meal-planning information.If you use the meal planner, we store the dietary restrictions you select, your meal plans, shopping lists, and any recipes or links you add to them. We treat this as sensitive information and don’t use it for anything beyond providing these features to you.

Communications. Your marketing email preference (on or off), and any messages you send us.

Usage and device information. Standard technical information collected by our hosting provider, such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited.

How We Use Your Information

• To create and maintain your account, and let you sign in
• To save, display, and let you organize your recipes, recipe book, and cookbooks
• To power features you choose to use, like the meal planner, ingredient swaps, and Cook Mode
• To send account-related email (confirmation, password reset) and, if you’ve opted in, occasional product updates
• To automatically screen publicly shared recipe photos for inappropriate content before they go live
• To keep the Service secure and prevent abuse

We do not use your information for ad targeting, and we do not sell your personal information.

What’s Visible to Other Users

Recipes you mark public, along with your display name, are visible to anyone who visits the Service. If someone forks your public recipe, your original stays credited. You can also generate a private share link for an unlisted recipe, or send a cookbook directly to another user’s inbox — anyone with that link or invite can view what you shared. Your dietary profile, meal plans, shopping lists, and private notes are never shown to other users.

How We Share Your Information

We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the Service, each bound to use it only to provide their service to us:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage
• Google — optional sign-in with Google
• Vercel — website hosting
• Resend — delivering account and, if opted in, marketing emails
• Anthropic — automated review of publicly shared recipe photos
• USDA FoodData Central — nutrition lookups when you search for foods in the meal planner

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Sweet Bean Recipes or others.

Cookies

We use cookies to keep you signed in and remember your session. We don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Data Retention & Security

We keep your information for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, and comply with our legal obligations. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Your Rights and Choices

• Access, correct, or delete your data. Email us at hello@sweetbeanrecipes.com and we’ll help you access, correct, or delete your account and associated data.
• Marketing emails. Toggle these off anytime in Account Settings, or use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
• Depending on where you live (for example, California, the EU, or the UK), you may have additional rights over your personal information, including the right to object to certain processing or to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Contact us to exercise any of these rights.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We’ll post the revised version here and update the “Last updated” date above.
